The Secret PMU Studio

My’s name Julie Huynh, am a permanent makeup artist serving in The Secret PMU Studio in Atlanta. At a permanent make up studio, our passion is creating customized, natural-looking treatments helps you feel more confident and beautiful. We take a holistic approach to your unique features and preferences, tailoring the treatment to your individual need and style. THIS IS TYPICALLY A TWO STEP PROCESS: * Initial + a perfecting session. While some clients may accept the pigment and heal beautifully without a touch-up, most clients are required to come back for a second session. On some rare cases, a third session may be needed to achieve the desired look * BOOKING YOUR PERFECTING SESSION: This session is a separate fee and not included with the initial session. Because results are unpredictable, it is recommended that you should book your 4-6 weeks touch-up session after initial session. This is not required but highly recommended. DISQUALIFICATION LIST If you schedule your appointment and have one of the conditions listed above, I will refuse service and your booking fee will be forfeited. Permanent makeup is NOT RECOMMENDED for any clients who are or have: • Pregnant or nursing • Diabetic (require doctor’s clearance) • Chemotherapy (consult your doctor) • Viral infections and/or diseases • Epilepsy • Pacemaker or major heart problems • Organ transplant • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.) • Sick (cold, flu, etc.) • Accutane in the past year • Had Botox in the past 2 months • Heart conditions, Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, Poor general health. • Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system / healing would make you NOT a good candidate for micropigmentation procedures BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT • Permanent cosmetic enhancements normally require multiple application sessions. To achieve the best results, you will be required to return for at least one control procedure 4-6 weeks after the initial application. Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become softer as the skin heals. This process can take up to 14 days. •On the day of your appointment, make sure your skin is clean and free of make up, oil or lotion •Discontinue Glycolic, Retin-A or Retinol products 4 weeks before the scheduled appointment. •DO NOT use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure. •If you've had any cosmetic surgical procedures done on the face area, please wait 8 WEEKS to fully heal prior to the eyebrow tattoo/ lip blushing procedure. •DO NOT consume any alcohol beverages 24 HOURS before the scheduled appointment. This will prevent any excess bleeding, oozing, and minimizes swelling during the procedure. Drink plenty of water. •If there are any open wounds, pimples, bruises, or any other skin irritations on the area; please wait for them to be completely healed before attending the scheduled appointment. •Please contact immediately if rescheduling is necessary due to this matter. EYEBROW •Do not wax, thread or tint your eyebrows one week before your procedure (I will shave excess hair) •No facials or chemical peels a week prior to the scheduled appointment •If there are any exfoliation products at home, please use on the brow area a week prior to the appointment for the skin to take in the pigment(s) easily during the procedure LIP BLUSHING • Keep your lips smooth and hydrated ahead of your appointment • Exfoliate and moisturize your lips every night for 5-7 days before lip blushing session • Apply sugar scrub or a similar natural exfoliator to your lips. After exfoliating with a lips balm or a hydrating ointment like Aquaphor, moisturize your lips immediately • Drink plenty of water to prevent the skin becoming dehydrated • Avoid caffeine for 24-72 hours before your appointment AFTER YOUR TREATMENT •In the first few days after treatment, it’s important to avoid getting the area wet or exposing it to excessive heat, such as hot tubs, sauna, or sunbathing. It’s recommended to gently clean the area with a mild soap and water, and the pat it dry with a clean towel. Avoid using any harsh or abrasive cleansers or exfoliants. •For the first couple of days, brows/lips will appear dark and very defined before the scabbing phase. The thickness will subside gradually as the days go by. •Avoid touching or scratching the treated area during the healing process, as this can cause the pigment to become dislodged or fade prematurely. •For the first week or so after the treatment, it’s recommended to avoid wearing any makeup or applying any beauty treatments, such as lotion, cream or serum to the treatment area. This will allow the skin to heal and the pigment to set properly. •You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area, this is quite normal and will subside within 24 hours. If you find any lymphatic fluid or blood weeping you can gently clean the area with cool boiled water and gauze, blotting gently dry to remove any moisture. •Redness, swelling, and stinging is normal and should subside by the following day completely. If the area feels unbearable for certain individuals who have low pain tolerance, please use a clean ice pack for comfort. •You will go through three healing phases: 1-heal, 2-peel and 3-fade. •Once the brow area starts to peel, it will appear flaky and unappealing. The area may feel a bit dry. Do not pick or pull at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss •Once all scabs have fully fallen off completely and naturally, healed results should appear 10-30% lighter in color and 10-15% smaller in size from the initial. Consider using a waterproof total sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color fading. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Are you certified? Yes, I have Certified Permanent Makeup Artist & Tattoo Artist. 2. Is it safe? Absolutely. All supplies are single-use. 3. How long does it take? The procedure takes roughly about two hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 2+ hours window for your appointment. 4. What’s the process like? Eyebrows/Lips Blush tattoo are two-steps treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up between 8 to 10 weeks after. After taking your before photo, I will draw the brows, lips design in pencil so you get an idea of shape and form. (Please note that nobody’s face is totally symmetrical and you need to be realistic with your expectations. There is no point in trying to make the eyebrows, lips identical or match a photo of your favorite celebrities' eyebrows/lips if your face shape looks nothing like theirs.). Once we have agreed on a final shape (ultimately it is your decision – but I will consult my opinion on what I think suits you aesthetically), I will shape your eyebrows/ lips then we will decide on the color. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, the pigment is deposited. During healing, it's normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place. 5. Do I need to take a day off work? No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows/lips will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living. 6. How do I extend the life of the procedure? Your eyebrows/lips will last longer if you apply sun block often and avoid abrasive facial treatments in the brow/lips area. 7. Can you guarantee your work? Unfortunately, I can't. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. all play a key role in your results, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required. I always make sure that your face is important to me and I will act in accordance with my experience and expertise to give you my absolute best. But there are no guarantees in this industry. Please think long and hard before you decide to go for it. LIP BLUSHING 1. What is lip blushing? Lip blushing is a semi-permanent makeup treatment that involves injecting pigment into the top layer of the lips (epidermis) with a micro-sized mechanical needle. The pigment provides a subtle wash of color – similar to a semi-permanent lip tint – for very natural results. It is far less opaque than regular lipsticks or permanent lip tattoos (popular in the ‘80s and ‘90s). Lip blushing is often used to color-correct or enhance the shade or shape of your lips. The procedure can help with pigment loss and lip neutralization, or create the illusion of fuller, more defined and youthful lips. Unlike filler, lip blushing doesn’t add any material volume to the lips, which offers a more toned-down and all-around “your lips but better” look. 2. Does lip blushing damage your lips? No—lip blushing, when done safely and correctly, will not “damage” your natural lips. Lip blushing generally doesn’t leave behind any scars, but it can leave your lips swollen, irritated, and scabbed-over for the first week. That being said, there are always risks to be aware of with any cosmetic procedure, especially if you’re prone to irritation around your lips, so make sure to discuss any concerns, allergies, and skin sensitivities with our artist before you make the appointment. 3. Is lip blushing safe? Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo is a largely safe treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced professional. Still, to set yourself up for the best and safest results, it’s vital that you discuss your skin history with our artist beforehand, like whether you deal with eczema, acne, cold sores, or rashes around your mouth, so they can determine if you’re a good candidate, or if we need to take special precautions (like going slower or using lighter strokes) to avoid irritation. Is lip blushing better than lip injections? Lip blushing isn’t “better” or “worse” than lip injections—it’s all just personal preference. Lip blushing will add color and definition to your lips, while lip fillers will add volume and shape. They both last about a year before requiring touch-ups, take a week or so to heal, and have about the same level of pain. 4. Does lip blushing make lips look bigger? Yep, lip blushing can make your lips look a little bigger. No, lip blushing can’t add any real volume, but it can make your natural lips look more defined, especially around the Cupid’s bow, which will give you the illusion of more depth and fullness. You can also chat with our artist to see if we're able to add a color gradient to the edges of your lips to increase the volumizing effect even more. But, again, if you're looking for true volume, go for lip filler. 5. How long does lip blushing last? Typically, lip blushing lasts around 2-3 years and will gradually lighten and fade over time, until your lips slowly return to their natural shade, it depends on your lifestyle and habits like smoking, swimming and sun exposure, or frequent exfoliating can also shorten the time in-between lip blushing sessions. You can expect your lips to look far lighter after two years than they will after six months, which is why many tattoo artists recommend yearly touch-ups to prolong the lip color you want. 6. How bad does lip blushing hurt? Even though, yes, it’s a tattoo on your mouth, your tattoo artist should use a topical numbing cream that’ll significantly dull your pain. You’ll likely only feel a few sharp pinches. During her own lip-blushing treatment, experiencing major pain is a big red flag that something’s wrong, please share with your artist right the way. 7. How does the process healing? Around 3-4 days after lip blushing, your lips will enter the peeling stage of the healing process. Between days 7-21 of the lip blushing healing process, the skin thickens and temporarily conceals the ink. As the scabs thicken, they start to flake off to unveil a fresh layer of healed skin. Once the flaking and peeling subside, don’t be surprised if the pigment color looks like it disappeared. The pigment will “reemerge” as the skin heals and the color settles over the next few weeks. This process takes between 4-6 weeks. After 8 weeks, you should schedule a follow-up appointment with your permanent makeup artist. For this follow-up session, your lips should be fully healed and can be touched up if needed. 8. What CAN’T I do after procedure? Never pick at your scabs or peel off the flakes. Peeling off your scabs can result in pigment loss, patchiness or reopening of the wound – which can break the skin and potentially cause an infection. Allow the flakes to fall off naturally. Maintain your daily washing routine, and keep your lips well hydrated during this stage. Avoid any forms of heat or moisture, from saunas and swimming to kissing, intense exercise, lipsticks (or other cosmetic) and spicy foods after lip blushing. Make sure to avoid direct sun exposure during the lip blushing healing process. After the first 10 days of the healing process, always apply lip balm – with at least SPF 30 and UVA/UVB protection – before going into the sun to prevent ink fading. 9. How to take care lips after lip blushing? Proper after-care hygiene is essential during the lip blushing healing process. Use a clean wipe to remove any fluid from new ink 4-6 hours after lip blushing. Follow up this initial cleaning with an ointment (Aquaphor) or a tattoo lotion. For the next 7-10 days after your lip blushing appointment wash your lips with mild, antibacterial soap and lukewarm water after every meal (at least once a day). Always wash your hands before cleaning or touching your lip blushing tattoo. Minimize touching your recovering lips as much as possible. EYEBROWS 1. What is the Ombre Eyebrow Tattoo? Instead of creating hair strokes eyebrow like Microblading, this technique is natural shading a gradient effect from the beginning of the brow to the end starting from light and fading to dark, give your brow the sharp yet natural look. 2. Will I be swollen? You won't be swollen, you just might have slightly red skin around eyebrows but this would last about a day. 3. Do you have to shave off my own eyebrows? No. Every attempt is made to retain all-natural hair and integrate it into the design of the permanent eyebrows. In some cases, where shaping of the natural brow is required, a few hairs here and there may need to be removed to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result. 4. How long does it take to heal? Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to 14 days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before I consider the process complete. 5. How long does it last? It will last as long as it’s maintained. How long brows lasts will vary on your skin type by how well your skin takes in pigment during the session and how dark/bright you are willing to go depending on scenario. After a touch up, brows/lips are expected to last from 1 to 5 years depending on the shade of choice you prefer, skin retention, time in the sun and daily skin routines (more exfoliating products, faster the fade). 6. How often do I need a touch up? In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every year. 7. What can’t I do after the procedure? Keep the skin clean and dry - that means hno swimming, sweating or otherwise getting the area wet; no tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking, peeling, scratching or rubbing the tattoo, this may result in a loss of color and scarring. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up, you treat them as your own. NOTE Everyone heals and accepts the pigment differently. We provide the same service for every client but retention is dependent on your skin and lifestyle Permanent Makeup is an art, NOT a science. Clients’ results will vary and using a pencil or powder will/may still be needed. We have no control over your bodies healing process and each time a procedure is done, the pigment will have less retention due to scar tissue If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, retinA/retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup WILL fade prematurely. The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided aftercare, the longer it will last. Nobody’s face is totally symmetrical and you need to be realistic with your expectations. There is no point in trying to make the eyebrows identical even if I were to use stencil on your brows, they will still look different due to our bone structure not being symmetrical. One brow bone will always dominant/protrude or be a little higher than the other also the side you sleep on plays a factor. We do not use the "P" word when doing Permanent Makeup. Sisters, NOT twins is used universally in this field.
